About Ethan

​Ethan Graves is a performer, educator, and composer from Edmonton, Alberta. His musical DNA is rooted in the worlds of Jazz and Western Classical music, with his soundscape being formed from the music of Hal Crook, Bob McChesney and Leonard Bernstein. 

Over Ethan’s decade and a half of performing, Ethan has been exposed to a wide variety of musical genres and has proven himself comfortable wearing any musical hat required. Ethan has acted as lead trombonist for Rumba Caliente (Edmonton’s Latin Beat) since 2023. He has had the joy of performing with Traditional/Folk artist Brianna Lizotte as trombonist and percussionist. He has performed as second trombonist for the Edmonton Winds on a variety of concerts since 2021, though notably accompanied the ensemble on their Europe Trip in 2022 with featured artist PJ Perry. He has acted as lead trombonist and founding member of Edmonton's Pure Octane ensemble. Performed throughout 2021 until 2023, as bass trombonist, second trombonist, then lastly first trombonist of the MacEwan University's Big Band. Then lastly, he has performed in the Festival Place Pit Orchestra in 2023 for their production of Narnia. 

Though in addition to Ethan's performing experience, he has proven himself as a recording artist. Recording on a variety of academic and professional records. Recording with ensembles like the Cosmopolitan Jazz Orchestra, the MacEwan University Jazz Band, the MacEwan University Jazz Combo , and the Festival Place Pit Orchestra.
